ERIKA ORDONEZ-CHAPA

Welcome to ART I

As your child’s Art teacher, I would like to introduce myself and explain what we will be doing this year and, in particular, how my class works. My name is Mrs. Erika Ordoñez-Chapa and I am looking forward to teaching your child to enjoy, appreciate, and create art.

Over the course of the year, we will look at and talk about major works of art, as well as create our own masterpieces using the elements of art and principles of design. We will study various artists, art styles, and cultures from around the world. Students have often worried that they may not pass the class because they think they don’t have any talent. I truly believe that everyone can pass my class if they follow directions, show effort, and complete the work assigned.

I believe it is important for you to know how my class works and expectations that I will hold for all my students. In order to have a classroom where all children can learn comfortably, I have set classroom rules for my students. I also have some classroom management procedures that will be explained and put into practice during the first days of school.

I have discussed these rules with the class, and the rules are posted in the classroom. Consequences for not following the rules range from a verbal warning to an office referral. When I notice a student doing something positive in the classroom, I will reward the student with a campus-approved incentive.

Please review the following: * rules and discipline plan     * grading criteria    * Materials list

I hope to have an exciting year, and I look forward to our partnership in your child’s successful education. If you have any questions during the year please contact me at (956) 473-7660, or email eordon57@uisd.net

Sincerely,

Mrs. E.Ordoñez Chapa
